I disagree. Those that currently use VS make desktop applications. Desktop apps are a completely different beast than successful web application. IIS sucks. People who know how to do web apps know not to use IIS or VS. Therefore, although Silverlight allows for rich clients, it doesn't make building a correct back end any easier. And this is where VS users usually lack the know-how.

I think my point is proven to some extent by Silverlight's lack of market penetration since your original post.

Carlos,
I have the good news to you.
When Moonlight reaches the state of full compatibility with Silverlight 2.0, gGanttic will work on Linux. So it is really not up to us the gGanttic team. We create an application to a framework that is somewhat cross-platform, and wait for it to spread to more and more platforms.

I am not pleading ignorance here. We do watch Moonlight progress. We do watch Mono, the mothership project of Moonlight, progress. Once gGanttic is popular with millions and we have to scale, I'd rather do it on a cheaper hosting. And Linux hosting tends to be cheaper then Windows. So Mono could become important to us on the server just like Moonlight is important to you on the client.

gGanttic for Linux?

Any plans for making this compatible with linux, also, through the Silverlight port for this OS (http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight)? It will make this really work for organizations, like mine, with all OS flavors coexisting. Long live diversity!

to test GA you got to have a web page. it is not hard or expensive to get one these days. If you can't you most probably don't need GA in the first place.
